Christ Church's wait to be Varsity champions continues. JAMES CROUCH and JAMIE FELTHAM investigate.
Canterbury Christ Church University’s wait to be Varsity Champions will continue having once again been defeated by rivals University of Kent.
Despite a strong start from Christ Church – they lead 3-2 after the first five events – they were eventually beaten 24-14 with all events finished.
It all looked promising for CCCU after winning the Men’s Rugby 1st XV 34-32 in an incredibly tight encounter, and the Women’s Rugby team beating their UKC counterparts for the first time ever.
However, UKC came back strongly, with wins in events including cricket, basketball, Men’s Rugby 2nd xv three out of the four netball games and badminton, amongst others.
Christ Church might have missed out this year, but one thing’s for sure - they will be back and ready to fight for it again next time around.
Canterbury Christ Church Men’s Rugby 2nd XV Flanker Tim Keenan reflects on his Varsity defeat.
