Football club slams “cowardly” crimes

Whitstable Town FC has hit out against “cowardly” thieves who stripped the clubs copper piping and created £5,000 worth of damage.
Tony Rouse, the clubs press officer, said “It was on the night of the 22nd February that we were broken into. Every single scrap of copper was stolen from the roof, changing rooms and the showers

This is such a cowardly crime by people who have no regard for anything but themselves.” As a result, the club has been forced to cancel a number of home fixtures as Whitstable continue to compete in the Ryman Football League.

The club has appealed to the public for help, “please if you know anything about this crime contact either us or the police”

The police have already made their appeal for assistance in the case; Insp Terry Chuter said, “This incident is particularly heartless. It has ruined the club. If you have any suspicions, we urge you to contact us.”

Contact Kent Police by calling: 01622 690690 or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
