Train users in Canterbury have reacted negatively to the news that Southeastern Rail will continue to run its service until 2014.
The company was slammed following a host of cancellations and late arrivals during the freezing weather conditions suffered during December.
One train commuter said: “It’s not so good because a few months ago there were a lot of cancellations during the snow.” Another customer echoed these opinions, “I’m not particularly happy about it, I just hope their prices go down a bit.”
A statement from managing director, Charles Horton, on it's official website read: “We’re pleased that the current Southeastern franchise will now continue until March 2014.”
He also acknowledged there is room for improvement, “We know there’s plenty more to do, particularly to continue improving the punctuality of services and also provide better information to customers during times of disruption.“
It was only recently Southeastern narrowly passed its punctuality target of 82% by 0.4%.
Southeastern are due to continue their service until 2014
